The successful drilling and commissioning of a solar-powered borehole in Birise Village, Chemba District, has brought clean and reliable water to over 450 community members who previously walked long distances daily to fetch water from unsafe sources.

Women and children, who bore the greatest burden of water collection, are now spending their freed time on education, farming, and small businesses. The borehole produces clean, safe water year-round powered by solar energy, making it sustainable and cost-effective for the community.

The project, funded by the UNDP-GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), represents a major milestone in VESO's community development efforts in Dodoma Region.
