A beekeeping programme introduced by VESO in Birise Village as part of the Climate Change Adaptation project has proven to be a highly successful income-generating activity for participating families in Chemba District.

Community members were trained in modern beehive construction, colony management, and honey harvesting. The honey produced has attracted buyers from Dodoma town and surrounding markets, with some families earning up to 500,000 TZS per harvest season.

Beyond income, beekeeping supports pollination of crops and agroforestry trees planted around the village, creating a positive environmental cycle. The programme, supervised by Sumaye from the Agroforestry department in Sanzawa, continues to expand as more families request hives and training.
